EndNote Web

Comparison

EndNote Web vs. EndNote Desktop

Check out the comparison table, but note that if you set up your EndNote Web account through UNR, your account will include over 6000 output formats and a bit more file storage than the basic free package.

In addition to the features of EndNote Web, the desktop software allows offline access to your library of citations, can be directly linked to any full-text files you have on your desktop, plus has no limit on total number of citations.

Users with existing copies of EndNote Desktop Version X or higher can import and export records between the desktop and online products.  Users with EndNote Desktop Version X2 or higher can set up automatic syncing between their desktop and online libraries.

The Endnote Desktop Software

EndNote Basic accounts store your citation collection on servers at Thomson/ISI, and the account is accessible from anywhere you can log onto the web.  The EndNote desktop software stores the program and your citation library locally on your computer.

While expanded EndNote Basic accounts are freely available to UNR faculty, staff and students, the EndNote desktop software must be purchased.
