Module Directions

Modules

You can add library modules in WebCampus on a variety of information literacy topics to supplement your students’ library research needs. The Research and Instructional Services Department developed this collection of modules to further integrate library resources into your courses.  These modules include an overview and learning outcomes, pages of instructional content, and a short quiz over the module’s material. Any number of modules from this collection can be imported into your courses directly from the Canvas Commons.

The modules have been built in WebCampus, and are loaded into the University of Nevada, Reno section of Canvas Commons for you to access and import into your course WebCampus section.

Importing a Module into a WebCampus course.

  1. Log into WebCampus. Click on Commons on the Global Navigation Menu.
  2. On the Search page, click the Filter button.
  3. Then, select University of Nevada, Reno under the Shared With header.
  4. You can then browse through the module topics available. Search for UNR Libraries.
  5. Click on the module title on the resource thumbnail to open the resource. Once in the module details page, click on Import/Download.
  6. Search for your course name.
  7. Check the box next to the name of your course (e.g., ENG 101), then click Import into Course.
  8. You will then be taken back to the Library Module details page, and you will see a green box at the top of the page that says “You have successfully started the import! It may take a little while to see changes in your course.”
  9. You can then navigate to your course, click on Modules on the course menu, and view the Library Module.

Contact your subject librarian if you have any questions over the material covered in this module.

Quiz Directions

Quizzes

The provided quiz is set to auto-grade; you will not need to grade these quizzes unless you add additional, class-specific questions. Note that the quiz is set up to be ungraded, to have a specific time limit, and to allow students to submit a certain number of times. You can change any of these settings to fit your class needs.

Editing the Module Quiz.

  1. Click on the quiz name on the Quizzes Index page, under the Practice Quizzes header
  2. Then click Edit.
  3. The first page you will see is the quiz DETAILS page. This contains the directions to complete the quiz. If you make changes to these settings, please make sure to edit the quiz instructions here as well.
  4. Once in the Edit page, scroll down to the Quiz settings section.
    • To award points for this quiz, change it from a Practice Quiz to a Graded Quiz by clicking on the drop down menu by Quiz Type (1), and selecting Graded Quiz. You can change the total points possible by clicking over to the Quiz Questions tab and adjusting the points-per-question.
    • You can adjust the time limit by entering the number of minutes you would like in the Time Limit Minutes box (2).
    • You can allow more or fewer attempts of the quiz by changing the number in the Allowed Attempt box (3).
  5. You can then set the due date for the exam (1), then click Save (2).
