Gerontology & Aging: Web Resources

The Sanford Center for Aging has a three-part mission: education, translational research, and community outreach.

The GAP is part of the Sanford Center for Aging and offers both a 24-credit Academic Certificate and a 18-credit minor in gerontology.

The Sanford Center for Aging offers scholarship awards and stipends to University of Nevada, Reno undergraduate, graduate, medical and professional students to encourage them to consider careers in geriatric and gerontology specialties. Scholarships are for one year. Award amounts vary.

The NGEC is committed to improving the health care delivered to older adults by providing education, information, and resources to health professionals and faculty.

The organization fosters collaboration between biologists, health professionals, policymakers, and behavioral and social scientists. This stems from the belief that the intersection of research from diverse areas is the best way to achieve the greatest impact and promote healthy aging. Through networking and mentorship opportunities, GSA provides a professional “home” for career gerontologists and students at all levels.

Careers in Aging Week (CIAW) is an annual event intended to bring greater awareness and visibility to the wide-ranging career opportunities in aging and aging research. Universities and colleges across the world participate by sponsoring events at their schools or in their communities.

The Administration on Aging provides access to community support, while focusing attention and resources on the unique needs of older Americans and people with disabilities across the lifespan.

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is a nonprofit service and advocacy organization headquartered in Washington, DC. We are a national voice for older Americans and the community organizations that serve them.

Since 1965, the Older Americans Act (OAA) has gained recognition as a unique and highly regarded statute that has stimulated the development of a comprehensive and coordinated service system. This system has contributed greatly to enhancing the lives of older individuals, family caregivers, and persons with disabilities.

The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) in the State of Nevada, Department of Health and Human Services, represents Nevadans aged 60 years and older and individuals living with disabilities.

Designed to assist health professionals in learning about and engaging in activities of CDC's Healthy Aging Program and The Healthy Brain Initiative to promote independence and
wellbeing.
