Creating Permalinks for articles on PubMed

How to create a constant link in PubMed that will access the University of Nevada, Reno's full text.

  1. Locate the article that you want to link.
  2. Copy and paste the PMID from under the citation/abstract into the search box.

  1. Append the PMID to the end of this string: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/

The URL should then look like this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30066301

  1. Add the UNR library proxy prefix to the front of the URL:

    http://unr.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30066301

  1. Locate the article that you want to link.  
  2. Find the PMCID and copy:

  1. You will be pasting the PMCID at the end of the following URL string: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/

    Note: The URL should then look similar to this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3310146

  2. Even though PubMed Central is an open-access database, you can still append the UNR library proxy prefix to the beginning of the URL:

    http://unr.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3310146
